The following list presents a preliminary draft of the situation of the synagogues in Alsace- Lorraine (Elsaß Lothringen) from the turn of the 20th century to the end of the second world war. This list is principally based on M. Rothé and M. Warschawski's book Les synagogues d'Alsace et leur histoir, (Chalom Bissame: Jerusalem. 1992), to whom we are indebted for his help and cooperation. We are, however, missing certain specific statistics, that have been marked in bold letters and question marks. When the name of the street has been altered, we've listed the currently used name and placed the old name in brackets. We should like to ask whoever owns such information or may correct possible errors we’ve made, as well as anyone who may be able to contribute pictures both old and new of the sites, to help us complete the work and send us his remarks to our e-mail synagog@netvision.net.il.
